But WDC HDD installed by dell has got just 1 year warranty. Every HDD company including WDC is by default giving minimum 3 years and maximum 5 years warranty. So ultimately your info helped me recover dell's factory settings that to from a different drive, which i couldn't have done with the setup repair and system restore options. Then i bought a new hdd and reinstalled the windows but the original windows settings and applications were all gone. Why i required this help was because my hard disk crashed and i had the original recovery files (provided by dell) saved in a pendrive (thankfully). But i must admit that the info was really really helpful.
